More to do in Greer
Just a few hours from Phoenix or Tucson, Arizona’s White Mountains are made for outdoor adventure and soaking in astounding natural beauty—complete with cool mountain temps! In fact, as summer temps soar into the triple digits in Phoenix and Tucson, high temps in the White Mountains don’t often get above 80 degrees. It’s a cool mountain paradise for hiking, biking, fishing, or just relaxing on the porch of your cabin with a good book and a view of the pines and Aspens.
In fact, it’s so green and lush that you might think you’re in Montana, but no, you’re still in good ol’ Arizona—packed with plenty of Old West lore and native legacy.
If you’re staying in Greer for more than a couple days, you’ll probably find that a scenic 20-minute drive out to Round Valley is a must—whether for gas, groceries, or to grab a National Forest hiking map at the Springerville Ranger District office. Round Valley is comprised of two small towns joined at the hip—Springerville and Eagar.
Enjoy some more of the local flavor by catching a movie at the historic El Rio Theatre or stopping into for fishing or hunting supplies—and just about ANYTHING else. There’s no Walmart in this frontier town, so Western Drug is where it’s at. Need a bike rental or skiing gear? Stop by The Sweat Shop on Main Street in Eagar—Jay and his team will take good care of you! Looking for a western gallery, gift shop and bookstore – stop by the K5 Gallery and Books located at Reed’s Lodge.
